THE CHESTER ACADEMY 10k RACE & FAMILY FUN RUN HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO THE WEATHER!!! 

I'm SORRY TO BE THE BEARER OF BAD NEWS! 

This year's Chester Academy 10k & Family Fun Run has been postponed to another date later in the year due to the dreadful weather conditions we have witnessed here at the racecourse over the past five days. The course surface has now become too dangerous to run on, this has been a decision we never wanted to make, but your safety is paramount. So on the grounds of health & safety plus the amount of surface water still on the course we have had no option but to postpone the race. Also looking at the weather forecast over the next few days and especially Sunday, this rain is only going to get worse. We are very sorry to make this decision because we know many of you would have been training hard for this race! 

NEW DATE: The Chester Academy 10k Race & Family Fun Run will now take place on SUNDAY 12th AUGUST 2012

Start time 10.30am - 2.5k, 5K & the 10k

Information on race day: your race number and pins will be available at registration on the day, so please make sure you arrive in enough time to pick them up. There will be a map of the course at registration, you can also see the map of the course on our official website www.chesteracademy.co.uk

IMPORTANT: IF YOU HAVE PUT DOWN THAT YOU ARE AN AFFILIATED MEMBER OF AN ATHLETIC CLUB YOU WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR ENGLAND/WALES/SCOTLAND OR NORTHERN IRELAND CARD WITH YOU ON THE DAY.  IF YOU FAIL TO BRING YOUR CARD THEN YOU WILL BE CHARGED THE EXTRA £2.00.

Race Number:

• You can pick up your race number and pins at registration on the day of the race so please make sure you arrive in plenty of time

• Please make sure your race number is pinned to your front (t-shirt, vest etc) in all four corners and make sure it is clearly visible especially when you cross the finish line so you can be named checked and the timing crew and see your number

Parking: As you enter the racecourse, turn left by the Leverhulme Stand, parking will be on the 

County Stand Car Park. The overflow car park will be on the Holiday Inn car park. Once you have parked up, make your way over to the field at the back of the racecourse where you will find registration.

Facilities: Changing facilities, showers and toilets will be available and are situated within the race course

Prizes: The prize ceremony will take place after the race has finished.

Results: Results will be put on this web site and sent to you via email within two working days after the race.

The Chester Academy 10k & Family Fun Run - Sunday 29th April 2012

The inaugural Chester Academy 10k & Family Run takes place at the picturesque Chester Racecourse on Sunday 29th April 2012, this will be the first ever official 10k race to take place fully inside this fantastic venue in the beautiful City of Chester. 

The 10k race is an excellent flat & fast four lapped course, taking in all the surroundings of the racecourse, from the beautiful scenic views around the course, to the magnificent County Stand! This is a brilliant spectator friendly course for all your family & friends to come to watch you walk jog or run around the racecourse. 

Race organiser, Keith Hancock says, “we at the Chester Academy are really looking forward to making this a big race, there is a half and full marathon in Chester but no official big 10k race, so we are looking for the people and community of Chester to embrace the race and make it their own! It was great to see over 1400 people attend the Sport Relief Mile at the racecourse and we have had so much positive feedback on what a fantastic venue it is” “The 10k race and family fun run not only offers people the chance to run in Chester but their family and friends can see them running virtually all the way round the course, so the support will be fantastic”.

On the day of the race there will be plenty of activities for the children to do and to see and what the Chester Academy has to offer, with tastier sessions in fencing and “Tri Golf”

The race offers FREE onsite parking, shower, changing & toilet facilities; there is also prize money on offer for the top three men & women finishers in the 10k race!! Each finisher will get the Official Race Medal along with Goody bag.
